Reflection: The tale of the Israelites can be either pretty depressing or comforting! They follow God, they turn away from God; they turn back to God, they turn away; they come back and so on. Sometimes things just keep on coming back to tempt us. There are things which are our idols: we may not worship a golden calf; but we do spend time devoted to other things: computers; media; gadgets; drinking; food and other excesses. We each know what our own particular golden calf is. Name it in your heart
