Psalm 1
The focus on creation continues in this week’s focus scripture. We concentrate on the image of the just person as a tree. These trees are “planted by streams of water, which yield their fruit in its season, and their leaves do not wither” (verse 3). Where do we plant ourselves so that we too might understand God’s wisdom and love and bear fruit? Who are the teachers who nourish us and keep our leaves from withering? How might we nourish others?
This week, take time to look at the trees around you. See each one of them as a part of God’s creation and a symbol of how we might flourish. Keep that image in front of you by drawing a tree in your journal, or printing a picture of a tree from the Internet and hanging it on the wall, or making a tree your screen saver.
