Psalm 62:5–12

God is not only the source of all hope, stability, and deliverance but is also worthy of all trust. That is certainly not what the powers of worldly beauty, power, or prestige say. They announce, “we are the ultimate source of life.” The psalmist hears much in the silence of prayer and reflection – God’s love and power.

This week, find a quiet time and place to reflect on what really “pulls” at you – possessing the right stuff, hanging out with the right people, using power over and against others. Talk to God about this in prayer, honestly. Open yourself to God’s response. Take one step to reduce your dependence on the false god(s) and build your trust in God; commit a verse from the psalm to heart to re-centre yourself,
