Genesis 29:15–28

Jacob returns to his mother’s homeland in search of a new home. He falls in love with Rachel, his uncle Laban’s daughter. Laban tricks Jacob into actually marrying Leah, Rachel’s older sister, after seven years of labour. After another seven, Jacob finally marries Rachel. Even amidst trickery and deception, God’s promise to Abraham for a family with many children will be fulfilled in Jacob and his descendants.

 

This week, write in your journal about the places that have been “home” to you. Think about the places to which you have journeyed and the new family and friends you have found there. What made these places home for you? How have you made a home for others on a journey?
