Read Hebrews 13:1–8, 15–16 in an age appropriate Bible or story Bible. “Do not neglect to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing that some have entertained angels…”
Today’s focus scripture talks about hospitality, and welcoming others. In church we seek to be a hospitable community, showing God’s love to all. In Christian community we have a code for living. In our families as well as our churches, we strive to be welcoming, encouraging, and supporting. Jesus reminds us to invite those who might not usually get invited; to welcome in the people who are left out.
Something to think about, talk about, or do:
- Trace and cut out several copies of each family member’s hand and foot. On each one write or draw how you can show kindness, hospitality, and God’s way of love to friends, family, and others.
- On a large piece of paper write a family (or group) code for living. List what is important for each person to live in community and love, where all are valued.
