Luke 3:15–17, 21–22
“…a voice came from heaven, ‘You are my Son, the Beloved;
with you I am well pleased’” (Luke 3:22b).
We can perhaps too readily read a verse such as this and readily apply it to Jesus, but shy away from it having anything to do with us. But pause for a moment. There is no reason to think that God is not well pleased with
us, too. We are created in the divine image, and God has blessed each of us and sees us as special. There are of course times when we disappoint God, and when what we do is not always pleasing. But still…there is no reason not to celebrate that we are still the beloved of God. Celebrate that!
